Kikyou is a pure and beautiful young woman, who's born with strong
spiritual power. She became a Miko (priestess) and, with her kindness,
helped several people that she met along the path.
She was entrusted by the Yokai Taijiya (Demon Slayers) to purify and
guard the Shikon no Tama (Jewel of the Four Souls). To protect the jewel,
Kikyou had slain numerous youkai that tried to steal it. She had a strong
affection for the Hanyou (half demon) Inuyasha. However, they are led
into a demonic trap by Naraku, which makes Kikyou and Inuyasha hate
each other.
Inuyasha ends up trying to steal the jewel, but Kikyou stopped him
by shooting an arrow straight into his heart and sealing him against
a tree forever. Mortally wounded, she requests to the villagers and
her sister, Kaede, to burn the Shikon no Tama with her body.
Fifty years later, Kikyou is revived and discovered that the true responsible
for her death, was Naraku. She is still kind to others, and has a special
love for children.
